My best entry was…

Eavesdropping. I feel like I really tried and i understood what the book was talking about in that sense. I really liked my picture too, but the site won’t let it stay up.

My least favorite blog was…

I didn’t like my first entry. it was very boring and just told you about the characters. There was nothing special to it.

 My most effective blog was…

I think my sixth blog was the most effective. It told the first turning point in the play.

What I learned from reading my blogs and other’s blogs…

Having to do these blogs made me reading to really understand the book not just to enjoy the story. Reading other’s blogs made me realize how different everyone thinks when they read.

Tartuffe who is supposed to be marrying Mariane is not being a very good future husband. He was alone with Elmire, Orgons wife, and was grabbing her hands and trying to get closer to her. Tartuffe is flirting with Orgon’s wife who is the mother of the girl he is supposed to be marrying. This guy Tartuffe is a little messed up. He shouldn’t be all over the Mariane’s mom, what is wrong with him?

Mariane Doesn’t want to marry him and i think he is feeling the same way about her. Mariane needs to do something to get out of this situation.

Shocker

Well Mariane and Valere were talking about how Mariane must marry Tartuffe. Mariane has no idea what to do in this situation and is asking everybody for advice. When she asked for Valere’s he told her to just marry Tartuffe and not argue with what her dad thinks is best for her. Mariane was very shocked and confused by his answer to her question. The man she loved doesn’t seem like he cares if she marries Tartuffe or not. Mariane takes Valere’s Advice and is going to marry Tartuffe but i don’t think that is how she thought everything was going to pan out.

Orgon catches Dorine eavesdropping on his conversation about how Tartuffe and Mariane are going to get married. Nobody can believe that they are going to be getting married, everyone is in shock including Mariane. Mariane has nothing to say about the whole situation while her dad is there, but when her father leaves she tell Dorine that her father is “the master” and she has to go by what he says. Dorine is trying to convince Mariane that if she just tells Orgon how she truly feels about Valere that he won’t make her marry Tartuffe. Dorine is giving advice to Mariane and Mariane is just so lost she has no idea what to do about anything. with her love for Valere and she is being forced to marry Tartuffe she doesn’t have a clue what to do.

Orgon was talking to his daughter Mariane and he wants her to marry Tartuffe. Mariane was very suprised when she heard her father tell her to bring him under this roof and take Tartuffe as her husband.

Mariane is in love with Valere and now that Orgon is making her marry Tartuffe she has to forget about Valere.

So Confused!

This play is so confusing most of the time I have no idea what is going on. it is really annoying. Ineed so serious help with this! I didn’t understand anything in Act 1 Acene 5.

Act 1 Acene 4

Filed under: Uncategorized — devyn at 3:30 pm on Sunday, April 20, 2008

Tartuffe is really sick his mouth red, his cheeks are pink, and they are bulging out the middle. Tartuffe must be very uncomfortable with all that happening to him.

Every time Orgon hears about how Tartuffe is doing all he can say is ”Poor fellow.” It doesn’t seem like he cares to much about him but he asks how he is doing and can only response with ”Poor fellow.” That doesn’t make much since if he really cared you would think he would say sonething meaningful.

Act 1 Scene 2

Dorine and Cleante were talking about how Madame Pernelle’s son Orgon has changed for the worst because of the war. Droine wrote a poem about Orgon that says…

“You think she’s bad? Wait til you see her son, and you’ll admit the he’s the crazy one. During our civil wars he showed good sense, and served with courage in his king’s defence;but since he’s taken Tartuffe as his hero, his sanity hes been reduced to zero; he calls him brother, hold him far above mother, wife, son, or daughter in his love. there’s not a secrete he will not confide to him, as to his spiritual guide. He pets and spoils him with such tenderness, a mistress would be satisfied with less;gives him the place of honors when they dine, and beams to see him eat enough for nine. He saves the choicest bit for the man’s and part when he belches, he says ‘Bless your heart!’ in short, he dotes upon his dear Tartuffe, Worships his goodness, quotes his words for proof, sees miracles of virtue in his ways, and oracles in every word he says. Tartuffe, who knows his dupe and means to use him, has countless sanity poses to bemuse him, receives good sums, thanks to his pious mask, and has the nerve to take us all to task. Even his servant, a presumptuous fool, treats us like little children in a school; he deafens us with wild-eyed homiletics, and confiscates our ribbons and cosmetics. Finding a handkerchief a while ago inside a Fleur des Saints, he tore it–so– saying it was a frightful crime to pair a holy object with the devil’s snare.

Everyone has their opinions but some are better left unsaid and i think Madame Pernelle and Dorine can relate because the both voice their opinions.

Madame Pernelle

Madame Pernelle Doens’t beat around the bush she will tell you how she is felling straight up and doesn’t care how you feel abfter she tells you.

For example she says in Act 1 Scene 1.

“As her brother, sir, I love you and respect you; but if I were my son, her husband, I would make it clear that I preferred you anywhere but here. You preach a way of life to everyone that decent people really ought to shun. I guess that’s pretty frank, but that’s my way: when i feel strongly, I must have my say.”

Madame Pernelle with this attitude can relate to most teens today because we all have or say and we all feel the need to share it just like she does.
